A little Gratitude Goes a Long Way

We are wired to focus on the negative, it is called Negative Bias. Negativity seems to have become so ingrained in us and so ‘normal’ that our greetings to each other and our conversations are often about how stressed we are and what is going wrong in our lives. We sometimes avoid positivity and greet it with envy and jealousy. We think of it as showing off or rubbing our good fortune in someone else’s face. If any of these thoughts resonate with you, how about reframing your thinking. For example; Your positivity could rub off on someone else and make them feel good. People want to share in others happiness. Your positivity and good fortune could encourage others to push themselves and strive to achieve their goals.

 

We can shift our way of thinking and literally change the neuro pathways in our brain to think positively rather than negatively. A daily gratitude practise is a great way to do this. It will rewire your brain to think more positively, increase happiness and reduce depression. It strengthens the immune system, enhances empathy, lowers aggression, improves sleep, self esteem and mental resilience.
 

It doesn’t have to take much time from your day, there are so many different ways to do this practise, alone, with family and friends, at home, in bed, in the shops…. This practise is unbelievably versatile, quick, easy and has a HUGE impact on our wellbeing, mental health, physical health, even friends and family will be positively impacted as well as your lifestyle as a whole.
