Find out if you are sleeping enough

Sleep is a relatively new subject to be studied but it is right up there with breathing when it comes to the human race surviving. Our bodies are doing so much when we sleep including regulating hormones that make us feel hungry and full, as well as supporting our immune system and lowering our stress levels. But still, the majority of people do not prioritise sleep or get enough of it. 

 

We all know the phrase, ‘I will sleep when I am dead’, ironically if you actually NEVER slept you would be dead. Don’t start panicking, this isn’t going to happen if you are getting 3 or 4 hours sleep a night or have a few nights of insomnia. But you would quite possibly get some or all of these symptoms; irritable, lack of concentration, physical reactions time slow down, short temper and feeling low. Prolonged sleep deprivation can cause more mental and physical problems including hallucinations, speech and memory problems, as well as risk from obesity, heart disease and diabetes. 

 

We all feel we need different amounts of sleep, some more than others, but Doctors recommend 7-9 hours a night. If you struggle to get to sleep I will be sharing my advice in the membership to help you set yourself up for regular, good sleep plus tips to enhance better sleep so you can function at your best.
